Coral reef restoration efforts are ramping up in Fiji. October 10th, 2020, is Fiji’s 50th anniversary of independence from British Colonial Rule. Celebrations include the launch of the One Million Coral Planting Project, an effort spearheaded by Walt Smith and the A.D.E. Project.
Walt Smith, best known for his live rock and farmed corals, has turned to the Kickstarter platform to help see a second Bula Buddies book production through to completion….
With MASNA’s earnings from raffle contributions at MACNA 2018 for the grand prize Fiji Trip drawing, MASNA is donating $2,500 to the A.D.E. Project.
Fiji’s Ministry of Fisheries & Forests suddenly and unexpectedly bans coral & live rock exports with a Facebook post. Chaos ensues, with the future for the aquarium trade uncertain.
The Washington DC Area Marine Aquarist Society (WAMAS) has awarded the first major contribution, a $10,000 donation, to the ADE Project in Fiji founded by Walt Smith.

Some addtional updates: Bocas Mariculture reports the successful cultivation of Serranus flaviventris, which didn't make it onto the list, and two accomplishments initially attributed to Bocas were in fact reported by Till Deuss from earlier when he was working with Biota Palau, so these have been attributed to the Biota Group with date information.Matt Pedersen says:
