House Bill 511 will likely be the second aquarium fish bill introduced to the State of Hawaii’s 28th Legislature, and would prohibit the harassment of persons marine fishing and aquarium fishing.
The proposed law seeks to criminalize the sale of aquatic life for aquarium use and establishes penalties for first and subsequent violations, and would essentially close the commercial aquarium fishery statewide by prohibiting the sale of aquarium animals harvested in Hawaii.
