CORAL NEWS: Passing the Torch
25 Aug, 2023
The remarkable tenure of James M. Lawrence (1946–2023), editor and publisher of CORAL since 2009, comes to an end with the September/October 2023 issue. Thank you for the kind and thoughtful remembrances that so many of you have sent, and for your friendship and support through this challenging time.
As the new publishing team at Aquatic Media Press takes the helm and guides CORAL into the future, we know you will continue to find inspiration and insight within these pages. Marc Levenson, known to many aquarists as the founder of Melev’s Reef, will be the new executive editor of CORAL starting with the November/December issue.
To all faithful readers, passionate aquarists, avid enthusiasts, and supportive advertisers who have been so encouraging over the years, we are enormously grateful.
And to all the marine scientists, authors, underwater photographers, captive breeders, and lovers of the sea and coral reefs who have joined us in bringing CORAL this far, thank you for the intelligent, inspiring writing, and beautiful imagery that is the hallmark of this magazine.
James once wrote, “the marine trade and hobby is a force for good, for educating others and for helping protect coral reef ecosystems and resources.” Thank you all for being part of this force for good. Long may it stay that way.
