Hemiancistrus to be Further Studied
22 May, 2019
The Catfish Study Group (CSG) Research Study Fund has been helping further the study of catfishes and they are at it again! Funding has been provided to Vanessa Meza-Vargas for her dissertation revising and classifying of Hemiancistrus catfish. This genus of armored catfish requires diligent work towards furthering the understanding of the genus and the relationships between species.
A bit about Vanessa: she worked on the taxonomy of Chaetostoma genera and species, has worked at the Royal Ontario Museum, and is currently working with Roberto Reis at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil in studying loricariid systematics. Thank you, Vanessa, for taking on this project and we hope to read your results soon!
